This girl and her boy and some really great homeschoolers and their lovely mammas …
recently went on a field trip to our local mission…
My youngest was able to try his hand at branding with no worries of big old cows getting grumpy.

This amazing cowboy is actually a cowboy.
He can lasso for reals. And tell quite a good story.
These boys are trying to sneak into his rope-circle.
They got to try a mini-lasso of their own.
My boy makes faces while working hard at things. Just like his mamma.
Leather working was a favorite activity.

We learned a few simple games played at the mission years ago. When rocks and spinning things entertained young and old.
I asked them all to gather for a photo. Can you tell which child is mine? Yep. The silly one that is weary of such photo-taking things.
And when he is really tired of pictures, this mamma holds out her camera most annoyingly close to his face, clicks, and hopes for the best. Usually my hopes are in vain, as an elbow or the blurry ground is all that can be seen. But, today, this girl captured the heart of her sweet boy.
This face reminds me why this girl has given her life to years of homeschooling. The simple pleasure of getting to spend my days with this face. And I loved spending earlier days with my other faces who no longer surround me but whose faces are bringing life to those around them in their world.
For, many good homeschool days were had.
